Business Ethics Essay H.B Fuller and the Street Children of Central America (Summary) The Resistol were produced by H.B Fuller company, a global manufacture of adhesives, sealants, and other specialty chemicals, and had operations in over 40 countries in North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America. H.B Fuller was a very profitable company. Honduras and Guatemala are two countries where fuller markets it glue products and the two countries where Resistol abuse is most pronounced. More than a third of people in Honduras and Guatemala were below poverty, and this economic condition directly affected to Family Life situation, commonly unstable, stressful conditions, husbands abandoned their wives and children. The countless children ran away from home life and roamed the city street, street children uses glue (H.B Fuller) by sniffing them (glue addicted) as the way to get-away from their real life condition. The misuse one of the adhesives, Resistol, a toluene base glue, by the street children of America, where the social economic was taking part of this situation. For years H.B Fuller had been pressure by child advocate groups in Central America and the United States, and encouraged the company to minute amounts of mustard seed-oil a common food additive, reported virtually eliminated abuse of its glue. In March 1989 legislature of Honduras passed decree 36-89 which banned importing or manufacturing solvent based adhesives that did not contain mustard oil. This situation surely disadvantages for H.B Fuller company business environment , H.B. Fuller subsidiary began lobbied the government to have the law revoked, brought some data and showed by adding the mustard seed oil caused; reduce the glue effectiveness, the smell would irritating to legitimate user, the substance was potentially carciogenic. H.B Fuller also took several actions related to help to prevent glue addiction for street children, in order to reduce the availability of glue to children they discontinued selling the glue in small jar, paying the social workers to work with street children and began providing information to distributors warning of the dangers of Resistol addiction. The actions keep continued on July 16th, 1992, the company stop selling the glue to retailer and only sold the glue to industrial customer in large tubs and barrels and cooperate with distributors to set up new control restricting distributions in retailer, on 1994, the company decided to change the toluene based into cyclohexane and increased the price up to 30% it further out of reach of children, of these moves, the company said, that this would discourage use of this glues among street children. In 1995, company issued a statement claiming that in reality it, îâ¬â¬neither manufactured nor sold Resistol, instead the company, asser ted it was a subsidiary of a subsidiary of the company in central America that had actually made and sold Resistol, and claims that the company was responsible the deaths of children are nothing More than attempt to hold fuller liable for acts and omissions of its second-tier Guatemalan subsidiary.

Othello And Desdemona :: Literary Analysis, Othello and Desdemona
Obsidian and Alabaster: Othello and Desdemona Othello and Desdemonaââ¬â¢s marriage was doomed from the start. Even considering the racial nature of the marriage, his lack of a constant home, and the improper method of his courting, there is another reason why their marriage would never have worked. Othelloââ¬â¢s label of Desdemona prevents him from considering her a person. He thinks of her instead as superior to himself in every way, to the point that she is a god. Her race, beauty, and status make her godly in his mind. Because Othello thinks of Desdemona as ââ¬Å"Alabasterâ⬠(5.2.5) he will never consider her capable of responding to his love. Because Othello is at his witââ¬â¢s end when he refers to her as ââ¬Å"Alabasterâ⬠, he is speaking out of his heart. After Othello reads the letter from Venice, he begins to speak in less cohesive manner. For instance the line, ââ¬Å"Pish! Noses, ears, and lips. Isnââ¬â¢t Possible? Confess! Handkerchief! O devil!â⬠(4.1.42) contains none of Othelloââ¬â¢s former eloquence. He begins to speak with word association, rather than in complete sentences. For instance, the word ââ¬Å"confess!â⬠brings up the word ââ¬Å"Handkerchief!â⬠, and ââ¬Å"devil!â⬠. Because Desdemona, the handkerchief, and the sense of maliciousness were on his mind so much, he begins to express with abstract words and ideas instead of sentences. Although this makes his lines harder to read, they show us what he is constantly thinking of. Instead of clear and concise lines, they are a torrent of his true feelings. Therefore when he describes Desdemona as ââ¬Å"Alabasterâ⬠, we can be sure it is his inner picture of her. Alabasterââ¬â¢s beauty gives you an idea about his feelings of bodily inferiority to her. Alabaster is a naturally beautiful stone, used by ancient Egyptians and Chinese to make statues and vases. This word choice gives the reader a sense of his feelings of inadequacy to Desdemona. He is never said to be ugly, on the contrary, he is described as ââ¬Å"far more fair than blackâ⬠(1.3.291). He must have felt some sensitivity about his physical appearance. In contrast, he describes her face as ââ¬Å"fair as Dianââ¬â¢s visageâ⬠(3.3.389), Dian most likely being the god of healing in Celtic mythology. This implies both beauty and health. He then goes on to say ââ¬Å"begrimed and black as mine own faceâ⬠(3.3.390). Othello superimposes her clean and young white face with his grimy old black face. The fact that he believed her to be unfaithful with Cassio further proves his insecurity.

Influence of Media in Student’s Life
Different kinds of Medias are there which influence the common people. News paper, T. V, Radio etc are the prominent Medias at present. Mass Medias have the power to educate people through advertisement, visuals, clippings and film slides. The propagation of ideas become very easy since it directly induces comprehensive knowledge in common man. The news paper is useful only to literate people where as T. V and radio covers all the human flock irrespective of literate or illiterate. Among all the Medias T. V is the most important device. People can understand facts from T.V simultaneously by hearing and by viewing the programme. T. V exerts a feeling that the things are happening in front of them. The media serves as a link between the government and the people. The government policies and activities are conveyed to the people . The views of people are forcefully expressed to make the authorities aware of the public feelings. The media can perform its true role as a guardian of public interest and a true source of all kind of information in a true democracy. The media in the advanced society should perform a noble mission of enlightening people.It can broaden the vision of people and discourage sectarian, communal and divisive trends. Media should not resort to sensationalism and distortion of truth. The influence of media is very great since it can make or break the government . It should be a real mirror of the society The responsibilities of media are the stronghold of the democratic setup. Democracy is based on the mass participation of the people in the affairs of the government . Article19-22 of constitution of India states right to freedom . Today the media is the forum of expression.A free press and media are therefore essential instruments of openness in society. Here we should remember a vital saying Your freedom ends where anyone elseââ¬â¢s beginsâ⬠. Freedom of expression should not be allowed to degenerate into freedom of abuse. In wider sens e the freedom given to media should not be allowed to degenerate into abuse. Even though there are lot of plus points so many negative points are also associated with the Medias. It has the bad effect of inducing baseless ideas through advertisements. The advertisements are mainly used for the enhancement of business purposes.Moreover most of the advertisements contains obsenity. Our cultural heritage is usually get hampered in such programmes. Since the media educates the people, and it does not extend any corrective measures people have to decide by themselves whether the idea propagated by the medias are correct or not. Since repetition of programmes are possible and its frequent reiteration, instill the people, the fundamental concepts which it intends to propagate through the particular programme. Thus the people believe that what the media propagates is fully correct.Now the young generation has a tendency to imitate certain scenes from cinemas and from some advertisements. Th ey donââ¬â¢t know such scenes are exaggerated or even created with the help of technological advancement. Thinking that it can be done in real life also, the people try to imitate it and landed up in danger. Hence the media has the power of educating people, the good and the bad. Since it affect the eyes, the ears and the mind simultaneously nothing can overcome the influence of the media. The present life of the people is controlled by the Medias alone.
